The move from old apartment to new house went pretty well, and we even managed to get all the kitchen boxes unpacked so that at least we have a functioning kitchen in the new house. The other rooms, unfortunately are still stacked up with boxes, or at least they were when I left them - who knows what J has been doing the last couple of days!
Four days after moving, we got on the plane for Cairns (almost didn't make it when I got to PIL house to pick them up and realised that I only had my new passport - not my old passport with all my visa and re-entry permits in it!! aarrgghhh. I renewed my passport in April, but haven't been down to immigration since to get the visa and reentry moved into the new passport, as I knew that it was not a problem if you took both passports with you. Anyway, a maniac drive back to new house 45mins away from PIL to pick up my old passport, and we still made it to the airport (I was freaking for a while there that we would miss the plane!!)with enough time to drop R off at the pet hotel - her first time ever to stay in one- and get to the airport 3hours before take off, luckily.
4 days in Cairns with both sets of parents was interesting, and at times very trying, but not as difficult as I thought it could get, thank goodness. It was pretty full on though, trying to fit everything in to such a short time frame, although the important stuff like
*diving on the reef (FIL and J)
* Kuranda railway and skyway cable car
* fishing (off the back deck into the waters on the marina we were staying at)and catching a decent size barramundi (a.k.a "the one that got away" when J lost it pulling it up)
* catching mud crabs off back deck
* drive up to Cape Tribulation
all got done. It was a nice trip. Followed by a 17hour drive back to Bris with my folks (stopping o'night at Mackay)
Back in Brisbane now, with perfect weather (27-30deg spring days), slowly catching up with family and friends, and getting through my list of things to eat, like meat pies and fish and chips, lol! At the moment, I feel like I have no time to be blogging. Well, truth be told, I guess I have the time but I definitely have no inclination to be blogging, so I guess I am taking a break until we get back to our new house in Japan at the end of the month. Until then, we are going to enjoy the Aussie lifestyle and relax and shop and eat our hearts out. Oh, and K will be playing her heart out with her cousins - she just loves it!!
