贅沢

J got back this morning from his business trip to France with:

All I can say is YUM. These macaroons are like nothing I have ever tasted - to say the ones I have tried here pale in comparison is an understatement.

He also brought back some cheese, salamis, butter and Belgium chocolates.
I can't work out if I am in heaven, or hell!?!? (As I can't eat half of it, and *shouldn't* eat the other half, at least not all at once, hehe)

  1. This is by far one of my favorite places... being French, I grew up with macaroons but now, with modern times, we have so much to choose from, so many flavors, isn't it just lovely?

I was near orgasmic when I found them in Japan. laduree... ah... pure bliss... my fav is Pistachio... It is tempting to visit the shop once a week in Nagoya... What is your favorite flavor... and the parfum....

DH does not get sent to France anymore = ( so sad... there was a time I was hoping we would be transfered there for a few years.. then they move the dept to Germany...

  2. They look so yummy!

Question: How do you bring cheese into Japan? I know they are not strict like Australia but does it have to be bought in with dry ice or in a vac pack? My mum wants to bring some meat and cheese etc in December and I am not sure how she has to go about it and a google has not helped me!

  3. They have this shop in Japan too?? Girl Japan, you tell me information that could be dangerous, lol!! We have been slowly trying each flavour - they are yummy without being too sweet, and are all delicious, it is hard to chose a favourite. I had never eaten macaroons before coming to Japan.

I hope J DOES get back to France again soon, I will definately be hitch-hiking my way there too. He even went to Moulin Rouge - agh, the jealousy bubbles within me, just like the champagne he drank bottles of at Moulin Rouge would have done to him....... lol.

  5. Hey TJ.... oh yes... as much as I like starbucks, their macaroons are WAY too sweet... here are the shops in Japan, not sure if you live close to one though.. but I've been tempted to drive two hours to get to a burger king... There is only three shops..

    Ladurée Tokyo
    > Ladurée Mitsukoshi Ginza
    > Ladurée Mitsukoshi
    Nihonbashi

And downtown Nagoya... but I think you can buy the macaroons at other shops... those are the Real Mccoy though...

How is the move coming along?

  6. The colours are amazing, aren't they ローラ.

Girl Japan: I have to edit my previous response about not having a favourite - it is 200% hands down to the caramel macaroon, which I just tried. I almost jumped on a train for Ginza now in the middle of the night (and rain!!).

I have also driven 2 hours return for cheeseburgers before, when living in inaka. Even bought an extra one to bring home and freeze, things got that desperate, lol.

  7. haha That is so funny... Caramel.. YUM, you know what is so confusing about this City "Nagoya"? It is the city, 3rd largest, yet they don't have costco here, not even an Ikea but we have their distribution centers....

    UGH

I think REAL hamburgers here are such a rare commodity because a. in the supermarket they only sell beef/pork mix and it was pre-frozen.

    b. I have a hard time finding lean ground minced meat....

They have a place around here but nothing like "Burger King" or "Kawaina Burger" sp?

I wonder if Laduree is still using organic coloring.. I think so? So indulge...
