After a day sightseeing in Matsushima we are staying the night in a doggy hotel! R is soooo happy at her first ever hotel stay- she normally gets stuck in the car (which is why we only ever go north in summer)
we havent been able to set up camp on this trip, so we spent the first 2nights in the car, and last night at a youth hostel (haha, at our age! there were mainly families there anyway- not a backpacker in sight). We reserved tonight's doggy hotel for tonight on one of those last minute dot com sites.
J is in the onsen now with K, and I am spending some quality time with R, something we dont get to do much AK(after K). ooh, they're back! my turn in the onsen!

onesen and futon will be nice after sleeping in car. Does R get her own futon - or a basket in the corner. Or does doggy hotel mean you are just allowed to tie her to the inside of the door handle??

Your trip sounds like a trip that Naoki and I would do!! As Gaijin wife said, a nice hot onsen would have been lovely after sleeping in the car for 2 nights! I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!
