Reading Kel's 101 things inspired me to try it out for myself- but I have to say that making this list was hard work. In the end I had to cull a LOT of items, like "climb at least a 1700m mountain" and several items relating to overseas adventure travel, lol! I kinda forgot that I am not in my 20s and not footloose and fancy-free anymore ;(
I am still not sure if I have managed to write a realistic list anyway or not - having kids takes a lot out of the playing field. I think that the hardest things will actually be just getting the time TO MYSELF to do half the things (especially the running and swimming.....) But, I can only try, right?
Soooooooooo...... here goes: 101 things in 1001 days.
Start date February 1st, 2010. Finish date October 28th, 2012
The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
Red means completed, italics means in progress.
Items are in no particular order.

Wow, you've done a great job with your list! I think yours might be more realistic than mine-is it too late to change some?lol
ReplyDeleteNumber 90, ditto here!
And 60 too. Although probably impossible.lol
Doing the drinking water thing gradually is a good idea too, wish I thought of that!
And finding ME time is going to be the key on my list too I think. Would love to do your swimming goals too but will have to wait til the kids start school for that!
Great list! I have loved doing mine and am excited to do another one once this time frame/list is up- I know there will be a couple left unfinished (like pass JLPT) at the end of the time but I am okay with that because I feel I have accomplished a lot!
ReplyDeleteCan I be one of the "
23 . Host playdate/morning tea at home at least 12 times (0/12)" people? Pretty pretty please? I will bring cake. Or cookies. I promise!
I am sure you will enjoy doing your list as well- I look forward to hearing about your progress.
Liking number 18 there :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your list!! I have really enjoyed doing mine and am thinking about starting another one at the beginning of next year. I can't wait to see your progress :)
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of increasing the amount of water you drink per month. It will make it a lot easier to succeed!! I always find drinking 2 litres of water a day is a LOT easier in the summer months obviously... but I have been able to do it this winter while pregnant! I just hope I can stick to it after Baby N is born...
Lulu - consider yourself number 23 on the list, lol! I made this one part of my list, as it seems to be the only motivation I have sometimes to keep the house clean and tidy, lol!
ReplyDeleteGW - working on getting there, I promise! We can still go to Tori-sutei with baby in tow, right!?!
As for the water, I have started this from day dot, and am suprised at how easy itis to drink 1L a day ( a glass or two when get up, one before bed and I am half way there) but I can see progressing to 1.5L and 2L as being difficult....hopefully the baby steps will help me to make it a routine, so that I can keep it up! Yay for you Nay for drinking 2L a day - any secrets/advice? I know when I was at work, and there was a bottle on my desk it was easier, but being at home I find I forget to drink it.
