J is in the bath now with K - finally. We left home over an hour ago to go to a cool looking onsen not that far away (J saw an ad for it in the Yokohama Walker mag). We all piled out at the onsen, went up to the counter to pay when they said "ooh.." I thought they were gonna start about how cute K is (hehe) but they turn around and say - sorry, only kids over 6years old allowed. AAARRGGHHH. So we load back into the car (K not so happy about getting in the car seat this time) and drive to a local sento instead, but of course it is closed, because it's Monday. AAARRRGGGGH. So we come home. I had to clean the bath (we haven't used it for a while, not at all over summer, actually) then fill 'er up. They are finally bathing now in sakura bath salts. It is almost past K's bedtime, but hey.
Not so pissed off about the fact that the onsen doesn't allow little kids - that is their perogative, but they should have written something about it in the ad. Then we wouldn't have wasted our time going there.
On the bright side, only 5 years to wait until we get to try out said onsen (hehe)

That really stinks about the onsen. Pretty ケチ of them not to include that tidbit in the add.
ReplyDeleteBeing the childless wonder that I am, haven't had to deal with this yet but experienced it passively when trying to go to just a normal coffee shop with a friend and her 9 month old to be told they don't let kids in. A fricken coffee shop in a Jusco?!?! sigh
now THAT sucks!! Since when did Jusco get so hoity toity? Did they actually say you are not allowed in?!?!? I mean, how much damage can a 9month old do - we assume they won't be running around terrorising the other customers (can they even walk?!?!) That is ruuuuuuude. Poor you and your friend.
ReplyDeleteActually, when we were in Miyagi, we stopped off at a really nice looking Italian restaurant, all piled out of the car and went through the front door to be greeted by the staff who asked "how many people" we said "3", then she said "we don't have any baby chairs".....and it was pretty obvious by the way she said it that she didn't want us in there. so we left, and ended up buying some crappy yakisoba from a stall at the first service area on the highway (which ended up being 3 hours away as we got caught in traffic). I can understand that people without kids (either at all, or not with them at the time) don't want to have to put up with other people's screaming, messy babies/infants - I know that BK I wouldn't have enjoyed having a baby throwing a tanty at the table next to me. But we sort of get sick of Sushi Ro and Saizaria after a while, haha!
GRRRRRRR to unflexible people...
ReplyDeleteI mean I understand not taking your kid to a high class romantic restraunt or something but...
*sigh*
We don't do too much of that in the Kobayashi family anyways so when the little one comes along there shouldn't be too much of a problem.
*sigh* sorry to hear that you also ひどい目にあった。 (using japanese as a cop out : ) )
